Exploring and transforming alternative energy resources

By Dale Green

We don't notice it often since we are so focused on petroleum and its derivatives, but there are many other alternative sources of energy which are in abundance on our planet. These sources are virtually in exhaustible and have been used across the globe in many different forms. However, they have just been used in lieu or the deficiency of petroleum and not as the primary sources.

We continuously benefit from the energy that comes from the sun, the wind, and from all the powers and energy that comes from the earth. However, we mostly fail to recognize and make use of the alternative energy and we tend to leave these alternative sources of energy undeveloped up to now. Since most of our fossil fuel supplies are now worn-out, the local government is taking into serious consideration the transitioning of natural resources into clean and renewable alternative energy.

Harnessing alternative energy sources for energy is not that tough particularly if you have a look at the progress which has been made in trying to convert fossil fuels into petroleum and other such products by purifying and refining them. The entire procedure is an expensive and tough affair and naturally costs more millions!

Though migrating or shifting to a new source of energy may be an alien concept since we are so used to petroleum, the truth is that it is essential for the progress and health of our planet. This step will help us in controlling pollution, decrease global warming and even help us to continue living in the same kind of lifestyle that we have been used to.

Solar electricity is an example of transitioning alternative energy for daily use. But this is also an example of costly and expensive renewable fuel because of the high cost involved when renewing the energy into another form of energy. Solar powers will enable us to have renewable fuel without using mechanical energy. Many people will benefit from this alternative energy if the government will do the necessary actions and all of us will do our share to learn and develop it for wider use.

Nothing has changed about the principles of generation of electricity since the time of Michael Faraday who discovered it in'00. Electromagnetic induction is perhaps the most commonly used method out of the seven methods of converting energy into electrical energy. This method basically involves generating electrical energy from kinetic energy. However, trying to tap the other new sources of energy will require us to understand the basics once again and develop some new skills and training methods.

These days the technology using photovoltaic devices has seen some rapid progress. However, the basic issue with the photovoltaic solar panels is that they are naturally more expensive than the electricity generated from the conventional sources of energy. Nevertheless, now there is a 40% leap in the capacity in places like New Jersey, Germany, California and Japan. With the kind of progress that is happening, it is hoped that it won't be very long when solar power will be at par with petroleum in terms of the efficiency and the cost.

Creating or renewing the source of power or energy we have now is possible with different developments and researches. Whatever mistakes happened and committed in the past may be repeated once again, but the good thing is there are a lot of things that we can learn from them as new methods are being generated. It is good that children are now aware of the power and energy we get from the sun, wind, and earth through the help of educational programs. This will help each of us to be aware of how to protect our mother earth from being polluted by renewing alternative energy for the benefit of each mankind. - 31877
