Fall Asleep Fast With These Approaches

By Michael Pratt

If you've ever dealt with a night where you can't fall asleep, you know the agony and the stress that it can cause. Once in a while, I face this problem and I absolutely hate it.

Sleeplessness is absolutely frustrating and it can seriously impact one's life. Everyone needs an adequate amount of sleep in order to function properly, and symptoms of insomnia can very easily ruin one's day. Not only will your body be run down, but your mind will have difficulty functioning too.

How do you get around this? There's so much advice out there, but none of it seems to work. What can you do to fix this dilemma?

There's always the medicinal route. There are both over the counter solutions and prescription medications. In either case, you should definitely consult a doctor about this before deciding to take this approach.

A second thing that you could do is to read in bed. I see this as a win-win situation in my mind. First of all, I'll generally get tired and my eyes will become heavy when I'm reading at night.

You'll even find that it's easier to fall asleep when you're reading something boring. The more boring the book, the better. And should I happen to stay awake somehow, at least I've been productive with my time as I've learned something!

When I do this, I get the biggest benefit of all. My mind is no longer fixated on the fact that I'm awake and not sleeping, and this is the absolute key to falling asleep at night.

Do whatever you can not to think about the fact that you can't fall asleep. The more your mind is fixated on this simple thing, the more trouble you're likely to run into. Weird how that works, but it's absolutely true. - 31877
